The map display can not only be controlled with the buttons in the menu frame but also with special map cursors and the contextual menu.
to get the zoom-in cursor ... press the [CTRL] key.
to get the zoom-out cursor ... press the [CTRL]+[SHIFT] key combination.
to get the pan cursor ... press the [ALT] key.
  to restore the previous view ... use the contextual menu item (right mouse-click) of the same name.
  to copy the map to the clipboard ... use the contextual menu item (right mouse-click).
To paste it, for example, into Microsoft® Word use EDIT - PASTE SPECIAL and option 'bitmap'.
  to see the whole map ... use the FIT button in the menu frame
 
→ A mouse-click with the zoom-in cursor
  • doubles the zoom factor (until the maximum is reached),
  • and centers the map display on the choosen spot.
    		•
    → To zoom in on a specific area (until the maximum is reached), describe a rectangle with the zoom-in cursor:
  • click on a map spot,
  • keep the mouse button pressed,
  • stretch the opening rectangle accordingly,
  • and finally release the mouse button.
    		•
    → A mouse-click with the zoom-out cursor
  • halves the zoom factor,
  • and centers the display on the choosen spot.
    		•
    → To shift the map display, grab a spot with the pan cursor:
  • click on a map spot,
  • keep the mouse button pressed,
  • move the map accordingly,
  • and finally release the mouse button.

    • Note: due to technical reasons the refilling of the map frame starts as soon as you stop moving the map - and not when you finally release the mouse button. The smoothness of the panning movement also depends on how much of the map is visible and the performance of your computer.
