The exhibition consists of 40 photographs taken by Cork photographer Philip Daly and toured in Ireland by Burma Action Ireland in support of the people of Burma. The photographs were taken in November 2006 by the Cork photographer, Philip Daly. He was accompanying Simon Coveney TD on an EU fact-finding mission to the Thailand-Burma border, where there are many thousands of Burmese refugees who have fled from the violent onslaughts of the Burmese Army. Some of the people in these camps have been trapped in statelessness for up to ten years. Philip generously gives permission for Burma Action Ireland to exhibit the photographs, as part of Burma Action Ireland's work of raising public awareness in Ireland about the situation in Burma.

The Exhibition will be launched on Monday 4th February at 7pm by Mary Montaut of Burma Action Ireland. Mary will speak about the plight of the Karen refugees and the current situation in Burma. Also attending on the night will be some of the Karen Burmese refugees who have recently come to live in Mayo after living for ten years in a refugee camp on the Thai Burmese border. Gerry Mulherin a development worker with Meitheal Mhaigh Eo will also speak on the difficulties facing the Karen refugees as they adjust to life in Mayo and on how the local community can help.
