Country singing legend Mick Flavin will pay a surprise visit to Castlebar on Monday November 26th to open a new music department in Castlebar library. Mick, the man they call the King of Country, has been entertaining audiences for fifteen years. In those fifteen years he has developed a unique relationship with his audience and has had numerous hit albums including The Old School Yard.
Mayo Library is delighted that Mick will open their new music library which comprises music CDs, DVDs and books. The stock of over 1000 items ranges through all types of music from classical, jazz and traditional to country, pop and rock. There will be an emphasis on music by local artists and the library would welcome any donations that people can make. It also includes some printed music and scores. This will be a wonderful resource for music students and music lovers in the town. So whether you want to listen to Strauss or read about the capers of Shane McGowan, castlebar Music library will have all that you need.
Mick Flavin will also launch his own book which tells the story of his eventful life on the night.
