Connemara-based writer and musician Tadgh Mac Dhonnagáin's  Bealtaine na nGael, will be a lively hour of material from the Irish tradition including traditional songs and rhymes, cures and charms, seanfhocail or proverbs, blessings, curses and weather lore. Tadgh will then lead you on a trip down bóithrín na smaointe, the uniquely Irish branch of memory lane, to discuss childhood memories of the Irish phrases and expressions that audience members heard at home from their parents and grandparents, and the memories they associate with these words and idioms. Tadgh will also explore Irish songs and rhymes the audience may remember from school and all going well, lead a sing-song that will bring back scenes from days gone by.  Tadgh Mac Dhonnagáin is a writer, singer, musician, RTÉ presenter and award winning screenwriter who grew up on a small farm in Mayo. Bealtaine na nGael is a Futa Fata initiative.

We warmly invite you to these special performances as part of Mayo Library's Bealtaine programme. Admission is free and a warm welcome to one and all.

Bígí linn ar bhóithrín na smaointe!
