Castlebar Library will mark Heritage Week August 20th to 28th with a documentary exhibition on the Royal Irish Constabulary.  The R.I.C. was the crown police force in Ireland from the early 19th Century up to 1922. The exhibition will focus on the activities of the force in the west of Ireland and will include original newspaper reports and illustrations, photographs and notes from police manuals of the time. It will also feature copies of original intelligence reports from County Mayo to Dublin Castle during the War of Independence.
