'Kill your Television' Poetry Reading by Emer Davis (Achill Library)

Emer Davis grew up in Bunnacurry and attended Bunnacurry National school  and McHales College, Achill Sound before moving to Dublin to continue her studies in 1984.   Emer will read several poems from her new collection Kill Your Television.  It contains 60 poems.  Many of them are about Achill and explore its natural beauty, especially the sea and its impact on women and children.  They deal with such diverse themes as love, passion, childhood, sorrow and loss in a changing landscape travelling through the jagged coastline of Achill to the urban decay of London and Dublin.  Memories are replayed in minute detail lapsing into finely tuned pieces.  Moments in time unfolding onto the pages.  Emer will read several poems from the collection and be available to answer any questions about the poems.  The book will be available in various outlets on Achill Island and Drogheda, in Books Upstairs and Sweny's in Dublin and online at  Everyone is welcome to come long to this free event.
