Mayo County Library provides a county wide request service for all members unable to locate a specific resource in their local library. This service may be accessed by checking with your local library or online through this website. - The Inter-Library Loans service:
This service exists to meet the needs of our users which cannot be satisfied from the stock of Mayo County Library. In such instances the title(s) concerned can be obtained on loan from another library.
There are two possible sources for such request. BorrowBooks (www.borrowbooks.ie) is the ILL portal for all public libraries in the Republic. The advantage of this option is that the library user can undertake their own location search and actually place the request directly with the holding library. Established in 2006 BorrowBooks currently accounts for eighty percent of items obtained by Mayo County Libray. In the event that a title is not held by a participating public library the user may apply directly to Mayo County Library to our dedicated ILL e-mail address (ill@mayococo.ie) or via their local branch Library giving the details of their request. We will then obtain the needed title(s) from other libraries in Ireland or the U.K.
A fee of €5.00 (currently half the cost of the transaction) is payable upon supply of the item requested.
