Internet Access Policy
- Mayo County Library provides public access to the Internet in keeping with its role as a source of information, intellectual development and enrichment for the community.
- Mayo County Library cannot accept responsibility for information accessed on the Internet and cannot be held responsible for the content or quality of the information retrieved.
- Mayo Library accepts no responsibility for any costs or damages arising directly or indirectly from use of the library's Internet computer service.
- Transmission of any material in violation of any laws is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material, or pornographic material. Use for any commercial purpose is prohibited also.
- Attempts to violate Internet security will result in loss of internet privileges. The library is not responsible for viruses which users may contract through using the library computers.
- As is the case with all other library materials, any restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the child's parent or legal guardian.
Due to our limited resources, we reserve the right to restrict Internet access to research and information sources only. The use of these computers for recreational games or chatlines is not allowed
Guidlines for use of Internet PCs
- Access to the Internet is available by booking at the library desk.
- Only current members of Mayo County Library may use the computers.
- Bookings are not transferable to another person.
- Each session may last for a maximum of 50 minutes, starting on the hour.
- Bookings not taken up within 10 minutes will be forfeited and that session will be made available to persons on standby.
- Bookings may only be made for one session per day.
- This facility is only available to adult members and secondary school students who have written parental consent. Younger children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
- Users must not display, distribute or sell pornographic, obscene or violent material
- Users must not attempt to violate the security of the library system or any other computer system.
- Users must not download files or software from the Internet to the hard disk.
- Users may print material at 15c per A4 sheet.
- Only library issued paper can be used for printing.
- Users can save information on their personal USB storage devices.
- Users who are aged under 18, who wish to register for Internet use for the first time, must have an Internet Registration Form signed by a parent or guardian in the library
Users please note that the role of the library is to facilitate Internet access. Library staff are not Internet trainers.
Use of these Internet PCs implies acceptance of all of the above conditions and violation of any of these will result in the loss of Internet privileges.
