Adobe SVG-Viewer Installation

Introduction

The Adobe SVG-Viewer is only required for the 1838 Ordnance Survey Map application. It was developed for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5+ under Windows 98 - XP and can't be opened with any other webbrowser, earlier IE versions or under a different operating system. However, we are currently working on a replacement for SVG, which should basically run everywhere. Expect an early version to be available before end 2007.

If you don't see a green map of Mayo in the first box above, you need to download and install the SVG-Viewer plugin. Additionally try Adobe's own test web page, which also includes animations.

Plugin and Version Check

If the SVG test image displays correctly, verify that you have the right version by right clicking on the test image, (you might have to activate the plugin control first), selecting "About Adobe SVG-Viewer" and checking if says "3.03" at the top.

Download and Installation

You can install the SVG-Viewer in two ways: Immediate Installation or Installation After Saved Download. The first option is the quickest, but the second allows you to repeat an installation without another download.

Uninstall

The SVG-Viewer can be uninstalled in the usual way. Under Windows, open the Control Panel, choose "Add or Remove Programs", select "Adobe SVG Viewer" and click on the Change/Remove button.

Troubleshooting

If your SVG-Viewer doesn't operate properly although your system fulfills otherwise above mentioned requirements then please try to uninstall and download / re-install it as described.
