Software Requirements
Depending on the collection, you need the SVG-Viewer or the DjVu-Viewer plugin to look at the maps. If you're in doubt that they are installed on your computer or that you've got the right versions please go to the SVG-Viewer installation and DjVu-Viewer installation web page.
Software Documentation and Tool Tips
The 1838 Ordnance Survey Map system comes with a help customized for County Mayo and offers step-by-step guides. They be can accessed through the link "Help" on top of the Search Window and Map Window. You can find here, for example, information on how to access a pan, zoom-in and zoom-out cursor and on how to copy map images from the map system into other applications.
The Bald and Estates maps are displayed with the DjVu-Viewer. It offers its own in-built help system. You access it through the context menu, i.e. by right clicking somewhere in the display area and selecting "Help". There are some advanced features, though, that can easily be missed.
