MapBrowser - Mayo Maps online

MapBrowser

Welcome to MapBrowser, the new integrated system for viewing Mayo County Library’s online maps.  Developed by Rainer Kosbi as an alternative to his SVG maps system, MapBrowser will run in the majority of browsers using Adobe's Flash Player on Windows and Apple Mac personal computers.

Are you looking for maps and data on your townland? Then following these 5 steps:

- open the map window by clicking here
- enter your townland name after the binoculars icon on the "Search/Overview" window.
- select your townland name from the list.
- click on the square townland symbol in the green map
- explore the  window providing information for the townland under the headings of  Maps, Admin, Links, Census, Names

For more information on how to navigate click on the "Help" button on the map window.

Mayo County Library’s online maps can be divided into 4 main groups. To view these maps and read background information, click on the links below .

  • Ordnance Survey maps
  • Boundaries and administrative divisions.
  • Bald’s map of Mayo
  • Estate Maps - maps of the Lynch-Blosse and Garret Moore estates.

Please note to facilitate a smooth transition from the old SVG system to the new MapBrowser system, both mapping systems will run concurrently on the library website until August, 2010.
