Sports and games in Turlough parish from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1945
the only sports listed for Turlough parish are fishing and shooting. Angling facilities are detailed for Clydagh River, Lough Cullin, Derryhick Lake and Lough Fada. There is also a short list of salmon and brown trout flies. Under the heading of shooting there is a list of the townlands preserved by the Castlebar Gun and Game Club.
Otherwise, there is no record of any sports clubs in the parish. Two annual events are mentioned: annual show and gymkhana and annual feis at Turlough Park.
