Irish Tourist Association Survey, Shrule
View Document (PDF)
The survey of Shrule parish, the most southerly in Mayo, was carried out by Donal Faughnan in 1945. From the point of view of the potential tourist, the area of most interest would have been the numerous antiquities, which take up nine pages of the survey. The only village of note is Shrule, which had a population at the time of just 165.
