The only antiquity described in this section of the survey of Moygownagh parish is a stone building at Carn, referred to by the surveyor as a peculiar structure, small and circular in shape. Believed locally to have been a stronghold of the Barretts or Lynotts but the surveyor was of the opinion that its origins were much earlier.
There is mention of a number of forts in the area but none of any importance.
