Historic sites in Lacken parish, from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1943
Kilcummin Head or Lacken Strand is believed to have been the site of a battle between the Irish and the Danes. It was also the site of the Humbert landing in 1798.
Caille Fochlut or the Wood of Fochlut was a wooded area extending from Lacken Bay to Cross and tradition has it that it was the maidens of Caille Fochlut who appeared to St. Patrick in a dream, beseeching him to return to Ireland. The name Fochlut was corrupted to "Foghill"
