The Irish Tourist Association Survey for Lacken parish was carried out by Conor O'Brien in 1943. Lacken is described as a parish with no town or village but with much beautiful scenery particularly on the coast. The area is interesting from a historical point of view with a number of antiquities listed and the site of the landing of the French forces at Kilcummin strand is also in the parish.
