Knock village from Irish Tourist Association Survey, Knock parish, 1945
The amenities and general information relating to Knock village are outlined here. The surveyor describes the village as "characteristic of the other Mayo villages having a small population" . This is true in some aspects but not so in others due to it's being a pilgrimage centre. There is a public water supply from a reservoir to pumps located in the village. This would not have been typical at the time. Similarly for the accommodation and dining facilites listed in the Accommodation section (see link below).
There is a brief description of the Church of the Assumption and a 1798 memorial. A photograph of the village is also included.
