amenities and general information for Kiltane parish, from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1943
The main centre of Kiltane parish is the village of Bangor-Erris which, at the time of the survey, contained 34 houses. According to the surveyor, there was nothing of interest in the village with fishing and shooting being the main attractions in the area. Amenities listed include:
- Parochial hall
- Branch of the county library service in the hall
- Water supply but no sewerage
- Lace schools at Bangor and Geesala
- National schools at Bangor, Ballymunnelly, Glencullen, Geesala, Doohoma, Doolough, Mungadeerran and Mount Jubilee.
