Mansions, castles and estates in Killala parish, from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1943

There are three residences included in this section of the Killala survey:

  • Cill Alaithe:- This was built around 50 years prior to the survey by a member of the Gore family. Owned at the time of the survey by A.K. Miller.
  • Palmerstown Estate:- Home of numerous members of the Knox family. According to the family the original house was destroyed in 1798 and the present building was a converted coach house and stable.
  • Castlereagh:- The residence of the first of the Knox family to settle ini the area.
