Descriptions of antiquities in Keelogues Parish from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1945.

A number of antiquities located in Keelogues parish are described in this section. they include:

  • Currane Castle, which is said to have belonged to the FitzStephen family.there is a detailed description of the ruins.
  • Moyhenna Castle, which is associated with the de Burgo and Fitzgerald families. Little of the ruins remain.
  • Church ruins at Knockatemple, said to have associations with Samuel Ormsby, hence the local name "Teampuill Sam".
  • Church remnants at Keelogues Old.
  • Remnants of Walter de Burgo's castle at Turlough Park.
  • Ruins (foundation only), of castle at Danganmore, believed to belong to the Fitzstephen family of Currane.
  • Mass rock at Carnacross.
  • Numerous souterrains.
  • Children's burial ground near Currane Castle.
