Historical notes on Islandeady Parish from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1945

The historical notes for Islandeady Parish contain a short account of the prominent families in the parish - the McDonnells up to the 12th century, the Burkes in the 16th century and Roger Palmer in the 19th century. Mention is also made of the Brown and Kilmaine families. Short examples of the effects of the famine are provided. an additional sheet contains a description of a monument on the Castlebar - Wesport road commemmorating two volunteers killed in 1921.
