The survey for Crossmolina parish was carried out in 1942 by Conor O'Brien. Crossmolina is the only town or village listed for the parish and is described in the survey as a thriving market centre with a population of 700. The most substantial part of the survey is devoted to antiquities and in addition to the written descriptions, there are four photographs included. As is the case with other towns in the survey, there are interesting comments on the quality of accommodation and catering establishments.
