Sports and games in Belmullet parish, from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1943
Belmullet is important as a sea-angling centre due to its location between Blacksod and Broadhave. There is also fishing on Carrowmore Lake. Other sporting clubs, activities and facilities listed in the survey include:
- Belmullet Golf Club: located near Binghamstown at the time of the survey but mention is made of plans to return to the old club at Carne.

- Belmullet Gaelic Fotball Club
- One race meeting held annually at Carne under flapper rules.
- Sports meetings held annually at Belmullet and Shraigh.
