Historic sites in Ballycroy parish, from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1942

Under the heading for historic houses in Ballycroy parish, two buildings are mentioned in the survey. The lodge at Srahnamonragh Bridge, owned by Barra O'Brian at the time of the survey,was formerly occupied by the writer William Hamilton Maxwell, author of "Wild sports of the West" . Rock House, Claggan was the residence of the Clive family, landlords of Ballycroy and relatives of Clive of India.
