The survey for Balla and Manulla was carried out in 1945 by Donal Faughnan. As a predominantly rural area with three villages, Balla, Maulla and Belcarra, there were not many tourist amenities. The most substantial area of the survey is devoted to the descriptions of antiquities, historic sites and buildings.
