Description of mansions, castles and estates in Backs parish from Irish Tourist Association Survey, 1942
This section of the survey for Backs parish describes 3 houses and estates:
Mount Falcon: Residence of Major R.B. Aldridge. Built in 1876 by the Knox family. At the time of the survey it was only occupied by the proprietor for a month or two each year.
Coolcronan Demesne: Built in 1860 by the Knox-Gore family. The owner at the time of the survey was E.M. Perry Knox-Gore.
Carramore House: Originally owned by the Vaughan family and the property of F.E.L. Reid in 1942. Located 3 miles southwest of Ballina.
