First page of Irish Tourist Association survey for Ardagh parish, 1942
Ardagh parish is located close to Ballina town and is exclusively rural in character. The surveyor points out that while a few townlands are referred to locally as "Villages", there are really no villages or towns in the parish. As a result there are few facilities apart from schools and a church. Sports are limited to fishing, shooting and hunting. The main attractions in the parish from a tourist point of view are the antiquities of which there are quite a few.
The survey was completed in 1942 by Conor O'Brien.
