The survey contains a brief general history of Achill ranging from the earliest mesolithic sandhill settlements, through the megalithic era, Bronze Age and Iron Age, the coming of christianity, the Protestant Mission of Edward Nangle, migration to Achill from Donegal and the division of lands by the Land Commission.
